About Smart Gym

Located at The Wedge in Pollok, near Silverburn Shopping Centre, Glasgow, Smart Gym CIC is a unique social enterprise designed to dismantle the barriers that prevent parents and families from accessing fitness and wellness. Founded by Dean Hardie following his personal journey with postnatal depression, Smart Gym was born out of a stark realization: affordable fitness facilities offering integrated childcare options were virtually non-existent for everyday families.

Today, Smart Gym stands as an inclusive, community-focused hub dedicated to improving physical and mental well-being for all income levels while stopping intergenerational mental and physical health issues in their tracks.

Services Offered

Smart Gym provides a full spectrum of health, wellness, and family-support services tailored to fit the realities of parent life:

Commercial-Grade Gym Access: Equipped with modern cardio machines, resistance machines, a functional multi-gym, and free-weight zones. Members can also book private weight rooms if they prefer dedicated space.
Free Supervised Crèche: Parents can work out stress-free while qualified staff care for young children (ages 0–8) in a dedicated play area.
Integrated Family Workouts & Youth Fitness: Unlike traditional gyms that restrict access to adults, Smart Gym allows children (ages 8+) to train alongside their parents, alongside offering specialized youth sports, gymnastics, and fitness classes.
Holistic Mental Health & Therapy Support: Recognizing that physical fitness is only part of the equation, Smart Gym collaborates with local practitioners to offer partner-led therapies, including trauma therapy, hypnotherapy, life coaching, and mindfulness-based yoga.
Personal Training & Career Academy: Through the Glasgow PT Academy, the gym offers accredited Level 3 personal training courses, helping local residents gain qualifications and access employment in the fitness sector.

The gym has proved a huge hit in the community and the unique concept has received praise far and wide for the impact it has had. One of the key considerations when setting up the gym and crèche was of course, the flooring.
